How to get a PDF signed without creating an account

Updated October 2026

Most e-signature services make you register before you can send a single document — and many then follow up with trials, upsells, and marketing email. If you just need one document signed, you can skip all of that.

Why most tools require an account

Accounts let a service store your documents, bill you monthly, and keep you coming back. That's useful for heavy users. For a one-off contract, it's friction: a password to create, an inbox full of follow-ups, and a copy of your document sitting on someone's server indefinitely.

Sending a PDF for signature with no account

  1. Upload the PDF to RootSign. There's no sign-up screen.
  2. Add the people who need to sign (name and email, up to 7).
  3. Place their fields — signature, initials, date, or text.
  4. Enter your own name and email so you receive the finished copy.
  5. Pay $1 on Stripe's checkout page. Your card details go to Stripe, not to RootSign.
  6. Signers sign from a private link — no account, no cost to them.
  7. Everyone gets the signed PDF by email, sealed and with a Certificate of Completion.

Skip the sign-up. Upload a PDF, place the fields, and send it for signature — $1 per document, no account, no subscription. Signers sign free.

What happens to your document

Because there's no account, there's no document history to manage. RootSign permanently deletes the document and its signer records as soon as the signed copy has been emailed to everyone, and no later than 7 days after upload if signing isn't finished. Keep the emailed PDF — it's your record. RootSign doesn't sell your data, show ads, or send you marketing emails.

Frequently asked questions

Can I send a document for e-signature without an account?

Yes. With RootSign you upload a PDF, add signers, and pay $1 — no account is created for you or your signers.

Do my signers need an account?

No. They sign from a private link in their email, for free.

Where is my signed document stored?

It's emailed to you and every signer. RootSign deletes its copy once delivery is complete.
